Manhoor Akram

National Student Representative

Mahnoor Akram is a current Physiotherapy student at the University of Toronto with an interest in the role of Physiotherapy in oncology. She previously completed her undergraduate degree at McMaster University in Biology-Physiology with a minor in Psychology and concurrent certificate in the Language of Medicine and Health. 

 

Mahnoor has volunteered in several oncology focused committees during her undergraduate degree. She volunteered for the McMaster Cancer Society to bring awareness on different forms of cancer and treatment to the McMaster University community. She also volunteered for McMaster Relay for Life where she helped organize the annual Relay for Life event at McMaster to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society. She is passionate about having a positive impact in the oncology rehabilitation community and looks forward to having clinical internships in the field. She is currently the Student Representative in the Oncology Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and has helped with the social media account through creating informative posts.

Holly Edward 

Support with Social Media

Holly completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) with a specialization in kinesiology from Queen’s University and her Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from McMaster University. She works clinically at a community clinic in Grimsby, Ontario, where she treats clients of all ages and conditions. Holly has also returned to school to complete her PhD in Rehabilitation Science under the supervision of Dr. Jenna Smith-Turchyn. She has a passion for working with patients with oncological diagnoses and her thesis work promotes the role of physiotherapy as part of the routine cancer care team. Holly is also an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster University and frequently supervises and mentors students.
